About the Unit

The Flight Maintenance Unit is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance of our Gripen aircraft, as well as all maintenance equipment associated with the aircraft. We also handle daily flight operations including preparation and readiness. Our tasks are primarily directed nationally, but international missions may also occur. The Flight Maintenance Unit consists of a unit management, the 11th and 12th Flight Maintenance Companies, and the Aircraft Workshop.

Main Responsibilities

Your tasks as an aircraft technician will include preventive and corrective maintenance on the JAS 39 Gripen and its various load options. You will also participate in preparation duties and readiness both at the home unit and at other locations inside and outside Sweden. You will become part of our combat unit. Depending on your prior knowledge, you will receive additional military training.

Your work will also involve maintaining a good physical standard.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• Driver's license, at least class B
• Basic Examination B1.1 (Civil aviation technical education)
• Good physical ability (Opportunity for physical training during work hours and testing)

Skaraborg Air Wing is a versatile and unique air wing. Here you will find combat aircraft as well as the Armed Forces' collective resources for transport and special aviation. We conduct basic and position training for conscripted recruits and train all Swedish and foreign Gripen pilots. The unit also participates in many missions. In Sweden, operations are based in Såtenäs, Malmen, Arlanda, and Karlsborg. Abroad, we are responsible for Gripen support in Thailand and for the Swedish personnel at the international transport aviation cooperation Heavy Airlift Wing in Hungary.
